Overview

Vincent VanGogh (1853 - 1890) was a revolutionay Dutch Impressonist artist who has changed the way we looked at art in the modern world. Born in Zundert, Holand this influential artist created about 2100 works over his artistic career, most of which were cerated in the last 2 years of his life. Characterized by his bold, dramatic use of colours and his expressive, daring brush work VanGogh contributed to the frameworks of modern art. at the age of 37 he commited suicide after a lifetime of sorrow, poverty and overwhelming depression.

Fun Fact

- Vincent sold one painting in his life time. Most of his success came after his passing.

- Vincent almost never became a painter. If it wasnt for him being fired from a pastor job we may never have witnessed his impecable tallent

- Vincent never had any form of formal training. He strictly painted what he felt and seen.

- it works out that he must have started a new work every 36 hours. This is due to making over 900 works over ten years.

-He considered himself to be a failure and didnt like much of his art. This came from only selling one work in his life time.

- His last words to his brother Theo were "This sadness will last forever." Vincent died two days after shooting himself in the chest.

- He loved and lived with a prostitute named Sien.
